    I would definitely have a professional check it out. You may not need to replace the entire stove, though. I had an oven in one of my vacant rental units that was getting hot on the cooking surface like that. I had my electrician check it out and discovered that the ignitor went bad and was staying on all of the time instead of just lighting the pilot when it was turned on. It was a less expensive fix than replacing the stove. In your case, I think it is not safe and it should be serviced. I know when my gas ovens go bad when they can no longer be serviced, the service costs more than 1/2 the cost of buying a new one or the unit becomes unsafe to operate. I always call in my electrician or my plumber to make that determination for me.

    Actually it allows you to use it with a cold oven or hot. i have found that either way works. The best way is if you have a self cleaning oven because it gets very hot and the baked on items tend to flake away. the you would follow up with the spray.So either way is ok

    Turn it to preheat and select the temperature. It should take about ten minutes or so. It also may turn to bake itself, depeniding upon the oven, or you can turn it to bake at about that time. Most ovens will reach the right temperature in ten or fifteen minutes.

    Baked goods (and cooked foods) will never be as good in a microwave. It cooks too fast, and intensively. You’ll have harder areas (and gluey textures in baked potatoes). You need the air circulation all around it too, to insure even cooking/baking. Microwaves are intended to heat up and defrost foods, not do actual “cooking” in them

    Yes you can, just check on it until it is to your desired crispiness.     There are probably several factors against you here. The dark, non-stick cookware heats the bottom of whatever you are cooking at a much higher rate than the top of the item being cooked, resulting in a hockey puck base and an undercooked middle and top. A conventional (electric) oven does not heat evenly so if you only have one pan, you want it in the middle slot to prevent burning. If you have two pans, place them both as close to the center of the oven as possible and then switch the rack they are on half way through the cooking process. Too little moisture can also cause burning. Place a small oven safe dish filled with water down by the coils to help put more moisture into the oven environment. This will also help make a more moist product which is good especially when making baked good like cakes and breads.Make sure that you are fully pre-heating the oven before placing food into it. When it is heating, it is generating lots of heat just to get the oven where it needs to be. This results in a burnt outside and a gooey inside.

    I think it should be OK, I did this once also and my conventional oven still worked, it took a while to get rid of the odor. I had to clean it everyday with water and a little bleach until the smell went away. Also another dumb thing I did was that I wiped the outside of the oven with a wet cloth that had easy off and guess what? Some letters came off also! I hope this does not happens to you. Good luck.

    Most of these igniters have a certain millivoltage that they must draw in order for the valve to open. Even though they glow orange, if the voltage is wrong, it won’t open the valve. Since yours is turning the gas on even though it isn’t igniting, that is very dangerous. You may just need a new iginiter that will draw the proper current, but it sounds like your valve may be bad also. Do not touch the new ignitor with your bare hands, the oil on your fingers can cause it to fail prematurely. Unplug your range from the wall first or trip the breaker, be careful, and good luck, don’t forget to turn the breaker back on or plug the range back in. Be very careful if you are lighting this manually, the gas build up could cause a huge explosion and burn you and your house badly. Good luck, peace.

    there is no insulation to stop the heat from escaping between the back of the stove and the rear of the oven. This heat you feel is normal, it’s happened to every range I’ve ever had.

    If you have a gas oven it will usually be quicker than an electric oven. Newer models (fairly recent) are more likely to be quicker to reach the desired temperature, because they’re more efficient, better insulated, etc. Putting a thermometer in the oven, and checking the time to heat to a specific temperature (usually 350 degrees) helps. Look through the door to check the temperature, because everytime you open the door, you’ll lose a lot of heat and it will take longer to regain that heat. Also, if you know the model number and manufacturer, you can usually access the web site of your manufacturer. Many will have a FAQ’s section, a .PDF file of the owners/ users manual, or finally… a customer service phone number!! The manufacturer builds ovens to operate within specific performance criteria, especially since the introduction of the EnergyStar ratings. So, comparing your time to preheat should be close to what the manufacturer intended.

    CO is a byproduct of an incomplete combustion process and quite dangerous to people. It is orderless and colorless and will suffocate a person. I assume that you have a natural gas oven.Some possible causes are excess combustion air in the ambient during the combustion process or an insufficient fuel supply.I would contact an appliance repair company. You may even contact the Gas Company and they will fix it, maybe at no charge.
